3.1

Managed networks

Design, installation and round-the-clock operation of wide-area and campus networks, with a single service desk and contractual availability of up to 99.99 percent. TNS runs 49,000 managed sites, from rural clinics to the trading floors of three central banks.

3.2

Hosting and colocation

Secure space, power and cooling in nine data centres, from a single rack to a dedicated hall, with carrier-neutral interconnection in every facility. Toronto DC1 and Toronto North together have room for more than 14,000 racks.

3.3

SecureLink

Private, encrypted links between a customer’s sites, clouds and data centres, provisioned in days and monitored from the network operations centre in Toronto.

3.4

Unified Maintenance Fabric

A single secure channel through which a customer’s engineers and approved contractors can maintain every system the customer operates, wherever it is installed.

Service notice New connections to the Unified Maintenance Fabric are paused while the independent review of maintenance practices takes place.

Our first data centre opened in 2001 in a former printing works on the Toronto waterfront. It houses the TNS network operations centre, which watches every managed network and every rack we run, in every country, around the clock.

DC1 has six data halls on three floors, two per floor, with 1,152 rack positions in all. It was refitted in 2019 and again in 2024, when the halls were re-engineered for high-density loads of up to 40 kW a rack. A carrier-neutral meet-me room connects 23 network providers, and two independent plant rooms draw on 56 MW of utility supply from two substations to deliver 38 MW of critical IT load.

Visits to DC1 are by appointment for customers and accredited auditors. Tours for students run twice a year through the graduate programme.

From 2019 until 2026, TNS hosted public-interest infrastructure at no charge in its Toronto data centre. The largest such service was a transit relay for Glossia, the open encrypted messaging protocol developed by Frothly, admitted to the network directory in May 2019 under Frothly’s public-interest hosting program.

The relay was removed from the directory in August 2026 after a conformance check. TNS has decided not to seek readmission. You can read our statement and the relay’s entry in the Glossia relay directory.
