TriOptimum Network Services today opened Toronto North, a 64-megawatt data center in Vaughan, north of Toronto. At C$1.9 billion it is the largest single investment in TriOptimum’s history outside orbit, and it doubles the capacity of Network Services in Canada.

Toronto North has four data halls with room for 12,900 racks, is certified to Uptime Institute Tier III, and is cooled for most of the year by outside air. It is connected to Toronto DC1 on the waterfront by two diverse fibre routes, and its operations are run from the network operations center at DC1.

More than 70 percent of the facility’s capacity was contracted before opening, to customers including two Canadian banks, a provincial health network and three TriOptimum divisions.

Our customers run things that cannot stop. Toronto North gives them room to grow without asking them to compromise on that.

Callum Doyle, President, TriOptimum Network Services
