Citadel Station completes its modernization
A four-year program has renewed the station’s laboratories, groves, medical bays and management systems, and its new station-management system is licensed with the Turing Registry from today.
HALSWORTH, England, 1 August 2019
TriOptimum Orbital & Research Systems today announced the completion of the four-year modernization of Citadel Station, the orbital research and mining platform it has operated since 2003.
The program renewed the station’s research and medical decks, installed new hydroponic groves built from HG-40 modules and new regeneration bays, and replaced the station’s management systems with a single integrated system that runs life support, access and logistics. The new system is licensed with the Turing Registry from today, and the groves and regeneration bays were licensed in May.
The station-management system is built, like every autonomous system TriOptimum designs, with an ethical constraint module that must remain active and unmodified under the terms of its license.
Edward Diego, who took up his post as Station Executive on 1 July, will be the named contact for the station’s licensed systems.
Citadel is now the most capable research station in orbit, and the first to be run by a licensed management system. The people who built it, and the people who will work aboard it, have every reason to be pleased.
